Gregor Schnitzler was born 1964 in Berlin, studied social and communications studies at the HDK in Berlin and worked for some years as a photographer. Since 1990 he worked as a director for many music videos and tv commercials. For the RTL series „ Im Namen des Gesetzes“ he shot eight episodes, and as well he worked for other works for TV as a director.

Together with Elini Apelakiotou with who he realized the short movies „ The window“ (1991, Prädicat „ very prized“ and a silver medal at the New York Filmfestival) and „Sundays“ (1992), he also staged „Finnlandia“ (2001). It follows „Was tun, wenn ́s brennt?“ (2002) and the film adaption of the roman of Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre „Soloalbum“ (2003). In „Die Wolke“ (2005) after the roman of Gudrun Pausewang he describes a nuclear catastrophe in Germany.
